“尼康（Nikon）”的名稱(chēng)，從1946年開(kāi)始使用，是“日本光學(xué)”日文讀音（Nippon Kogaku）的羅馬字母縮寫(xiě)，并且融合了德文中蔡司照相機(jī)ZeissIkon中kon的寫(xiě)法。

尼康株式會(huì)社（社長(zhǎng)：苅谷道郎）為了在中國(guó)正式擴(kuò)大數(shù)碼照相機(jī)等映像業(yè)務(wù)，于2005年4月在上海成立了由尼康全額出資的銷(xiāo)售、服務(wù)子公司——尼康映像儀器銷(xiāo)售（中國(guó)）有限公司，2006年4月分別于北京，成都，廣州設(shè)立了分公司。

中國(guó)的經(jīng)濟(jì)近年來(lái)呈現(xiàn)顯著發(fā)展的勢(shì)頭，各國(guó)企業(yè)把中國(guó)作為今后發(fā)展最快的巨大市場(chǎng)而加緊了進(jìn)軍中國(guó)市場(chǎng)的速度。尼康也通過(guò) Nikon Imaging China 等生產(chǎn)基地進(jìn)行各種產(chǎn)品的生產(chǎn)，開(kāi)展了在中國(guó)的業(yè)務(wù)。在銷(xiāo)售方面，此前通過(guò)香港的當(dāng)?shù)胤ㄈ恕?Nikon Hong Kong Ltd . 進(jìn)行中國(guó)的市場(chǎng)營(yíng)運(yùn)和銷(xiāo)售活動(dòng)。此外，還在中國(guó)各地設(shè)立指定的修理店，在進(jìn)行技術(shù)指導(dǎo)的同時(shí)，進(jìn)行售后服務(wù)。

新成立的公司將通過(guò)直接進(jìn)口和銷(xiāo)售膠卷照相機(jī)、數(shù)碼照相機(jī)等映像設(shè)備產(chǎn)品，在提高銷(xiāo)售額的同時(shí)，強(qiáng)化與市場(chǎng)緊密相連的市場(chǎng)營(yíng)運(yùn)，并通過(guò)更加有效的廣告投入，達(dá)到品牌滲透的目的。此外，在售后服務(wù)方面，通過(guò)把眾多指定的修理店進(jìn)行據(jù)點(diǎn)化和直營(yíng)化，使之在技術(shù)方面得到強(qiáng)化。
